He is also known for his roles in the telenovelas Andrea and Apartamento de Solteras and for his appearances on the variety show Con Lo Que Cuenta Este Pais. Melwin Cedeño was born on December 27, 1964 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
He married model and fellow actress Phaedra Michalzik and together the couple has two children named Xander and Ackerly. He started his career as an actor after joining the theater group Los Nenes de Puerto Rico. He made his television debut in the early 1980's when he starred in the soap opera Alejandra, Karina Montaner. At the end of the decade, he appeared on Show del Meduidua and El Kiosko where he developed his Chevy persona.
